Remote private readings
Readings can now be carried out through Skype with you for instance in Aberdeen and me in Nantwich but ‘face to face’ through our computers.
What is Skype?
Used by millions of people all over the world the software is free to download and free to use. It provides free telephone, video and instant messaging calls between Skype users. It’s just like using the telephone to anywhere in the world but for free. You can also get very good rates for calling landlines and mobiles. All you need is a computer with a microphone, a broadband Internet connection and the Skype software loaded. For two way video, which is the best way of using Skype you would also need a webcam.
Computer Specification – If you have a modern computer you should have no problem running Skype, most laptops now have an in-built webcam and microphone so all you need is the Internet connection and the Skype software. For other computers you will need an external microphone with earpiece and a webcam. Please check out the specification on the Skype website before you download the software or purchase any extra hardware.
A few simple steps
Go to the Skype Homepage and take a look around to get familiar with what Skype is about. If your happy with it all and you have the hardware you need, download and install Skype for your computer – Windows, Mac or Linux versions are available.
The Skype website also has a number of very helpful user guides to get you started and without a doubt when you are first into Skype the most useful feature is the Skype ‘Echo / Sound Test Service’. This will probably be your only contact when you first start, calling the service tests the system and your sound and microphone settings. For more control over the settings click from the top menu on ‘Tools > Options’.
My Skype contact name is ‘gaily.ross’ so you can find me by adding me to your contacts by clicking from the top menu on ‘Contacts > Add a Contact…’ and then typing in my Skype name in the ‘Skype Name’ field, click on the ‘+ Add’ button. Finally you are prompted to send a request for me to add you to my contacts, when I have accepted the request we will appear on each others contacts and can talk over Skype.
Over time some of the detail over will change slightly, but I have been using Skype for a while now and it hasn’t changed much in the time I have used it. Good luck and maybe I will speak to you soon.
